Discover the ancient ruins of My Son, a former Hindu sanctuary, before concluding your tour in Hue, the former imperial capital, where you can explore the majestic citadel and royal tombs. This tour offers a captivating blend of history, culture, and breathtaking scenery across Vietnam’s diverse landscapes!
ITINERARY
Upon your arrival at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, you will be warmly greeted by our local guide and driver. They will escort you to your hotel in District 1, a journey that typically takes around 60 minutes.
After checking into your hotel, you’ll have the rest of the day to unwind, explore the city, or simply relax. Please note that standard check-in time is 2:00 PM. Early check-in may be possible, subject to hotel availability and potential additional fees.
After breakfast, departure for Cu Chi. You will arrive at the Cu Chi Tunnels site before the arrival of most of the large bus groups. You will watch a short ‘propagandistic’ introductory video on the Cu Chi area.
09:00: You will explore the tunnel site, which includes displays of weapons and traps, navigate through authentic Viet Cong tunnels, visit various underground bunkers (kitchens, meeting rooms, ammunition, etc.), a shooting position, and much more. You will be able to try the local cassava root that sustained the Viet Cong fighters for years.
11:00: Enjoy a delicious traditional Vietnamese lunch by the river, consisting of fried spring rolls, chicken and beef dishes, and soup.
11:30: Return to Ho Chi Minh City. Free lunch.
The afternoon is dedicated to visiting the Independence Palace, formerly the residence of the Presidents of South Vietnam. During our visit, you will have the opportunity to admire the North Vietnamese tank that in 1975 crossed the threshold of the presidential palace, putting an end to the controversial Vietnam War. The palace, which is spread over five floors, houses original furnishings that reflect the style of the 1960s and 1970s, with a basement converted into a bunker. Afterwards, you will continue the pleasant tour by heading to Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, where you can admire an essential landmark of the city. The Saigon Central Post Office is a magnificent building designed by the famous architect Gustave Eiffel. The rest of the day will be at your disposal to visit the most famous market in the city, the Ben Thanh Market, which has been open since 1870. Dinner will be on your own, and we will spend the night in a hotel.
After a leisurely breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Cai Be, stopping at the intriguing Cao Dai Temple en route. Immerse yourself in the vibrant rhythm of life on the legendary Mekong Delta, exploring the picturesque canals lined with lush orchards.
Visit local craft workshops, witnessing the creation of traditional delicacies like rice popcorn, coconut caramel, and rice cakes. Embark on a leisurely bike ride or walk through the serene countryside, discovering the ancient Phu Chau Pagoda and interacting with friendly locals.
Savor a delicious lunch at an open-air restaurant, indulging in the renowned local specialty, elephant ear fish. Afterward, embark on a tranquil boat trip through the canals, shaded by fruit trees, while enjoying a selection of fresh seasonal fruits.
Return to Ho Chi Minh City in the late afternoon
Breakfast at hotel. Take flight to Hue. Visit the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda- a symbol of Hue’s spiritual heritage. Admire its elegant architecture, serene atmosphere, and panoramic views of the Perfume River. Proceed to explore the opulent Hue Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Discover the intricate palaces, temples, and fortifications that once housed the Nguyen Dynasty emperors. Visit the Emperor Minh Mang’s tomb, an architectural masterpiece that harmoniously highlights the nature and imperial religious works. The tomb was planned during Minh Mang’s reign (1820–1840) but built by his successor, Thieu Tri with the effort of ten thousand workers and artisans.
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Hoi An, experience the breathtaking beauty of the Hai Van Pass, a stunning mountain pass offering panoramic views of the coastline. Arriving at Hoi An setting the stage for a captivating exploration of a UNESCO World Heritage site. Immerse yourself in the city’s rich history as a bustling 15th-century trading port. The Old Town, a remarkable testament to centuries past, is a labyrinth of well-preserved architecture, reflecting the harmonious blend of Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese cultures. Discover the Cam Pho Communal House-a symbol of cultural exchange and religious devotion; the Japanese Covered Bridge-a fusion of architectural styles that has stood the test of time. Visit the Quan Thang Ancient House and the Phuc Kien Assembly Hall to see the traditional lifestyle of a Hoi An family within this beautifully preserved residence. Experience Tra Que Village– renowed for its aromatic herbs and traditional farming techniques.Engage with local farmers, learn about their time-honored practices, and savor the fresh flavors of the region.
Your half-day excursion to the ancient Champa Kingdom begins with a convenient hotel pickup. Travel 40 kilometers south of Hoi An to the sacred valley of My Son, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Once a thriving religious and intellectual center, My Son offers a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the Champa Kingdom. Explore the well-preserved ruins, including intricate brick and stone temples dating back to the 7th to 13th centuries. Your knowledgeable guide will illuminate the architectural significance and historical context of these ancient structures. To enhance your cultural experience, attend a captivating traditional Champa dance performance. Witness the graceful movements and vibrant costumes of the dancers as they bring to life the ancient traditions of this lost civilization.
After this immersive journey, you will be transferred back to your hotel, where you can continue your exploration of Hoi An or unwind at your leisure.
After breakfast, transfer to Da Nang. Explore the Marble Mountians– renowned for its stunning landscapes resembling five fingers, named after the elements: water, wood, metal, fire, and earth. Visit the mysterious Tang Chon, Huyen Khong and Am Phu caves with pagodas and temples inside, hiking up the very scenic viewpoint where the Emperors of Nguyen dynasty often prioritized. Stroll through Non Nuoc Village, famous for marble sculpture, and shop for unique souvenirs.
