Mekong Delta Bike Tour: Vietnam to Cambodia | Jem Travel

Get ready for a unique and inspiring experience, cycling through the lush Mekong Delta on a journey that will take you to discover river landscapes, traditional villages, and authentic cultures of Vietnam and Cambodia.
You will start in Saigon, the dynamic city, and then immerse yourself in the rural life of the Delta, cycling through the dense canals of Ben Tre and Tra Vinh. Here you will have the opportunity to interact with local communities and discover their lifestyles based on fishing and farming.
You will continue your journey to Can Tho and Chau Doc, on the other side of the Cambodian border, admiring the lively floating markets and breathtaking views of the great river.
You will then cross the Mekong to Phnom Penh, the Cambodian capital, before concluding your tour in majestic Siem Reap, gateway to the Angkor archaeological site.
This adventurous bike ride along the Mekong will give you a unique perspective on river life, with the opportunity to discover remote villages, meet local communities, and immerse yourself in breathtaking natural landscapes. An active and immersive experience.

ITINERARY

Reception by the driver (without guide) at the airport exit (recognizable by the sign with your name), after collecting your luggage and completing customs procedures. Transfer and hotel accommodation will be provided.
Rooms will be available from 2 pm. Early check-in is not included, but can be requested for an additional fee.
The rest of the day will be at your disposal (guide, transportation and sightseeing not included).
Breakfast at the hotel. Discover the secrets of Saigon with the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Bike Tour. This fascinating 5-hour tour will have you explore the city, from the main tourist attractions to hidden surprises that will leave your senses in awe. You will admire the Ho Thi Ky Flower Market, Saigon Station, the Thi Nghe Canal, the Emperor Jade Temple, the City of Sala in District 2, the Central Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Reunification Palace, and the War Remnants Museum!
The bike tour will begin at the magnificent Ho Thi Ky Flower Market, the largest flower market in Ho Chi Minh City. You will breathe in the scents of petals and lose yourself in a riot of colors. The market, opened in the 1980s, is considered an authentic icon of old Saigon.
The tour will continue along the Thi Nghe Canal, an atmospheric waterway with splendid views, to the Emperor Jade Temple, one of the most intriguing in Ho Chi Minh City. You will then ride to Sala City in District 2, an elegant residential area, and the Central Post Office, one of the city’s oldest buildings.
You will then reach Notre Dame Cathedral, one of Saigon’s icons, before visiting the Reunification Palace and the War Remnants Museum for a reflection on Vietnam’s history.
Dinner will be free and we will spend the night at the hotel in Sai Gon.

After an hour’s drive in an air-conditioned car to Tan An, you will explore the Long An countryside by bicycle, passing through the villages of Tan Hiep and Than Cuu Nghia, and pass through pitahaya orchards, rice paddies, and melon fields. The area is known as an area of villages devoted to fruit and vegetable cultivation in the Than Cuu Nghia countryside. Your lunch will be served at a local restaurant. There will be a transfer to avoid the heat after lunch and allow you to take a nap before the afternoon. The easier afternoon tour will start from Mo Cay to explore the lively villages and local activities, leading to a ferry crossing on the other side of the Co Chien River.
Dinner will be free and we will spend the night at the hotel in Tra Vinh.

Tra Vinh is a coastal province in the Mekong Delta. However, many of the local beaches in Ba Dong are not famous because they are too far from the city, and the main attraction for travelers are the breathtaking scenery and bicycle paths on which you can ride to get closer to the friendly farmers and Khmer people. Today you will ride on beautiful trails, crossing farmland and stopping at some villages along the way before arriving in Cau Ke for lunch. In the afternoon, you will continue your ride in the direction of Can Tho.

Dinner will be free and we will spend the night at the hotel in Can Tho.

From the hotel, it will be a short boat trip to the Cai Rang floating markets, the largest in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. Once there, you will be immersed in a bustling and busy commercial market on the water. After the floating market, you will ride through orchards and pedal to remote villages in the area with natural landscapes of canals and waterways, where you will experience the warm hospitality of local families. You will return in an air-conditioned minivan for a transfer to Long City for lunch. After lunch, you will explore new farming areas, breathtaking landscapes, and an exclusively water and bicycle/motorcycle transportation system. If time permits, you will stop at the Ba Chuc extermination camp in the late afternoon.

You will have an early start from the hotel for Phom Penh, the Cambodia’s capital today. Phnom Penh was once considered one of the most beautiful cities in the Orient with retains much colonial charm and it’s located by Mekong River and great Tonle Sap.
A local guide of Hang Chau boat will pick you up at 7:15, your hotel after your breakfast, and take you to the dock at high speed leaving at 7:30 am. A local guide is also helping you with visa applications at the border gate. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery and local life on the water on the Mekong River from Chau Doc to Phnom Penh city. The picnic lunch box is included.
The speed boat ride takes about four and a half hours including visa application. Upon arrival in Phnom Penh around 12:00pm, be welcomed by the local English speaking guide and be accompanied to the hotel for check-in. After lunch at a downtown restaurant, enjoy your leisurely time and explore this city by your own.

Today’ cycling is 30 km only because we spend more time on driving to Siem Reap before dark. After an hour, we will transfer you to the rural area of Kampong Thom for morning riding. We start cycling on back roads, pass villages, rice paddy fields and have lunch before spending time in the late afternoon in the A/C van to Siem Reap.

Dinner will be free and you will spend the night at your hotel in Siem Reap.

Spend a day exploring Angkor Wat by bicycle, including Angkor Temple, Bayon Temple and Angkor Thom. Afterwards, explore the surrounding area, biking trails through the jungle and charming villages.

Breakfast at the hotel. You will get on your bicycles to ride through back roads, rice paddies and farms, and penetrate small villages with your guide to discover the lives of the villagers.
You will sample local fruits and snacks during stops at the local market, mushroom and lotus farms, and places where rice wine is distilled. You will admire village handicrafts and Buddhist temples before returning to your hotel in Siem Reap.

You will have an early start to enjoy the sunrise at Angkor Wat today.

Then we return to the hotel for breakfast. You will have free time in Siem Reap until your transfer to the airport without a guide present. Please note that the room will be available until 12 noon. Please inform us in advance if you wish to extend your stay in the room beyond your departure time. We wish you a safe journey back!
